I was arrived cremona yesterday night for attending mondomusica cremona.

I am very supprised about cremona that I did not expect. I'am very hard to find luthier in cremona..!

My residence in cremona is just next to the cremona violin making school. But I can not find any luthier shop near that place.

I found just 4 or 5 luthier shops near the duomo.

But every shops has its own violin.

Today, I was going to mondomusica.

But sadly, I did play very few instrument. Because I am not a good violin player.

In the almost every section, there are one or two very good violinst. They play so well.

I has no courage to play near the them. And my friend also.

Is there anybody in cremona to attend mondomusica?

I wish I could have been there. I hope you enjoy your visit.
Perhaps you can post some photos?

I heard in some documentary that there's around 50 luthier's shops in Cremona. These are the only ones that I'm currently aware of, or maybe they're the only ones with the patience for maintaining a website. smile.gif

Hello all,
A few years ago, I visited Cremona on a trip to Europe. Here are a few pictures I took in Cremona.
Sorry if they are a little large!
Tom

Here is a good website to find the addresses of violin makers in Cremona:

http://www.cremonaliuteria.it/indexeng.php

This association (Consorzio Liutai di Cremona) even has a demo shop with a few instruments from different makers on display and for sale. It is quite nice to see if you get the chance to go there. I also sell good books.
Indeed, when I was there last year, I also thought I would be seeing violin shops all along the streets. Most people work from home. I can understand that perspective, as Cremona is so touristy that they would not get any work done at all if they all had an on-street shop front!

If you can visit the Stradivarius museum, it is very impressive. Or even the violin school. I got a private tour by one of the teachers (we were doing a staff exchange with Cremona at the time) and I was amazed how big it is!

Tom -- thanks for the photos. They are big, and I'm sure that many readers won't be able to download them. I'm on a fast connection, so was able to get them fine. It's raining here today, and I have a bass to glue together -- a section at a time because I lack enough large clamps to do it all at once, so very nice to see sunny Cremona.

I have cruised thru Flickr and found an abundance of Cremona photos, mostly exterior shots, but I think some of your interior shop photos were unusual and interesting. You might want to try lowering the jpeg quality on some of those, and reposting. I'm sure many who can't see them as they currently are would like to.

As to those who posted the shop links, thanks for those as well. Interesting and inspiring.

Cheers,

Ken

Thank you Tom. I very much enjoyed your photos. I assume that the tower is the one that Stradivari was said to climb on occasion.
Is the Stradivari home/shop location known/exist?

Mussolini tore the block down and put up an arcade. Andrew Dipper has done a lot of research on the house and has built a scale model. He gave a presentation on it several years back at the Amati Conference in Vemillion SD. There are still some photos of it around.

Bonjour tout!

I did not except that many replies. Viva cremona!

Actually, I cannot find luthier shop because of mondomusica. Almost 90% of luthier goes mondomusica for watching or exhibiting

My camera is not so good. I will post pictures after I got pictures from my friend.

Salut! Ciao!
