Thanks, I thought I read this was supposed to be the first English translation somewhere.

Maybe of the updated version.

Will think about it

Andrew, Nice to see you here!

Maybe you've been in and out and I haven't noticed.

Still remember so many contributions when we were looking at bows years back.

Except for the pock marks on the top it looks a lot (really a lot) like my former 1936 Carl G Becker....which sounded like crap by the way thank God I got rid of it....

And don't you see.... that's the difference. A player is looking for sound, a collector or dealer doesn't care what it sounds like if the authenticity is there.

Setup can most often help with the sounds if the fundamentals are there.

Nice combination.

Not that much repertoire either, apart from Mozart and Schumann's Fairy Tales.

(although I think there might be a viola version for cello in the Brahms Op. 114.)

Among the instruments illustrated on that Chinese site is one introduced as a '1715' Marsick Strad.

http://bbs.cnstrad.c...-43015-1-2.html

There is obviously some confusion here with the 1715 Marsick played by James Ennis from the Fulton Collection.(which has a two-piece back)

The cozio.com reference for the instrument in question is:

http://www.cozio.com...nt.aspx?id=1175

It is a twin with a few other instruments, including the Joest and the von der Leyen of the same year 1705.

If there is another instrument also known as the Marsick from 1715 I would be interested to hear.
