One of the Wittner pegs I installed has worked loose. I originally glued in the pegs using a small amount of hide glue. I really do not want to set the peg in deeper in the hole, as the distance from the peg knob is correct at this point. Any suggestions for the best way to resecure the peg at the same depth would be much appreciated. Thanks.
I want to have a good strategy for getting a color match on the new neck I just put on an old cello. So far I have tea stained the new neck, added a ground of several coats of very diluted de-waxed shellac and one coat of yellow oil varnish. My question is how to add the color. I was thinking I would add the different layers of color I can see on the body starting with the lighter to the darker. Should I add a thin layer of clear coat between each new color? Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks
