I am curious to discover the opinions of the Forum regarding adding corner blocks to an existing violin which did not have them originally and which is in for repair and requires the top to be removed anyway for other repairs.
What advantages and/or disadvantages would there be to adding these corner blocks. Would they make the violin stronger or not? Would they change the sound for better or worse? Would it help some and not others, how would one know in advance?
Makers, restoreres, repair persons, any and all. What are your thoughts?
