About Me
I began playing the violin when I was eleven. I went on to receive a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. My interest in making and restoring violins was piqued while I was an office assistant at Christian Eggert Violins in Fargo, ND.
I am a graduate of The Violin Making School of America in Salt Lake City. While attending violin making school, I worked as an assistant violin maker for John Moroz, of Moroz Violins. A position at Pasewicz String Instrument opened up and my husband and I did a big cross country move so I could study bow restoration and making from Jerry Pasewicz.
I enjoy biking, making violins and bows, and when I can find the time, playing violin for a local rock band.
Some photos of some of my work (you might be able to tell that I like to do wraps):

We came up with some fun thumb leather and wrap designs for the VSA conference. Just sharing some of the inspiration.
Through Patch and Edge and Underlay
07 November 2012 - 07:20 PM
This instrument recently left the workshop. It required a through patch, edge and underlay, and new purfling in one of the corners and in the c-bout. Rather than filling the damaged area in the c-bout with wood filler, the area was cut out in a funnel shape and raised about .75 mm, just enough to bring up the level of the wood on the inside of the purfling. We glued it with hide glue and used strap clamps. We made a plaster cast in case it was needed for any part of the process, but it went unused. Once the through patch was completed an edge and underlay was added. Hope you enjoy.
