About Me
I began playing the violin when I was eleven. I went on to receive a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. My interest in making and restoring violins was piqued while I was an office assistant at Christian Eggert Violins in Fargo, ND.
I am a graduate of The Violin Making School of America in Salt Lake City. While attending violin making school, I worked as an assistant violin maker for John Moroz, of Moroz Violins. A position at Pasewicz String Instrument opened up and my husband and I did a big cross country move so I could study bow restoration and making from Jerry Pasewicz.
I enjoy biking, making violins and bows, and when I can find the time, playing violin for a local rock band.
Some photos of some of my work (you might be able to tell that I like to do wraps):

The wraps are silk (one with silver tinsel and one with antique tinsel) and metallic wash goat skins for the leathers.

Evan, mineral spirits helps the tape let go. Lots of mineral spirits and patient, careful peeling.
Wooden, one miiiilion dollars. Just kidding. I don't actually know. The office staff deals with the financial end of things. The idea is to make sure that when the workshop staff give estimates, they will be as honest as possible since we're not influenced by prices.
Violadamore, after carefully treating the wood for color, it was sealed with shellac.

Brad,
The tape was to protect the edges of the pieces (if we could get a feather edge, we wanted to keep it intact.) It went on prior to sawing the piece out. After the piece was glued and trimmed down, the white wood was again covered to protect it from dirt until it was varnished.
