Baroque violin

Sorry about reposting this but my post has mysteriously been sucked into cyber space ( Jeffrey has no idea where it went )

 

I'm looking for reading material on building baroque violins , Jacob suggested the strad poster . I have a customer looking for one and I'm really keen to get him around to the idea I could build him one . So maybe a list of general specs would be good, however I understand that way back then there were variations in specs.

Hi Folks , Does anybody know where I can get some plans for the 1739 Sleeping Beauty Cello by D. Montagnana , if anyone has any other advice in general about Montagnana cellos I would be most greatfull.

Pip Seymour varnish

Just wondering if anyone has made Pips varnish , 25% mastic  25% Venetian turpentine and 50% stand oil .
I'm going to try it  but was not sure of the long term ageing and wearing process.
