If the violin G string would be wound by aluminium, it would have to be terribly thick. Aluminium is almost four time lighter than silver. Chinese usually use steel, stainless steeel or some cheap alloys such copper alloys and so on.

The tension is simply the force level applied to the string by tailpiece and peg. The higher weight of the string (per inch) the higher tension (at the same pitch).

Try to tune any string say one third down. The tension of the string will decrease. The difference between high and low tension string is, that the low tension string is lighter and therefore has a lower tension at the same (original) pitch,

Work on your bowing,..

You are absolutely true with this sentence of course  .
Anyway, I find strings very important part of a good sound. This is why I started to deal with it few years ago. Strings are something like tires on a car. Many people dont't care about tyres, they even don,t know what type of them they using actually. Anyway, if you like driving and if you want to fully utilize the quality of your car in all weathers, you need to to choose the right tires.

If you want to utilize the quality of your instrument, you need to find the ideal strings, or string combo. Not only the best ever, but ideal for a particular instrument.

Moreover, the strings quality will determine the "work on our bowing", since each string type (metal core - synthetic core, high tension - low tension) requires completely different ratio between three most important quantities - contact point, speed and pressure.
