14 Gold Medals or First Place awards (as well as other awards) in international instrument making competitions in the US, Germany and Italy by the age of 31. Subsequently retired from competition.

The first American to win the Cremona Competition.

Former restorer in the Weisshaar shop.

Judge  for the Violin Society of America International Competitions,  the "Antonio Stradivari" international violin making competition in Cremona (the Triennale), and the China Competition.

Teacher and program director in the Oberlin College/VSA stringed instrument programs.

Contributor to Strad and Strings magazines.

Member of the International Society of Violin and Bow Makers (Entente Internationale Des Maitres Luthiers Et Archetiers D’Art), the international professional trade group.

Member of the American Federation of Violin and Bow Makers, the US professional trade group (formerly on the Board of Governors).

Awarded a masters certificate from the AFVBM in 1993.
